Welcome to Palmerston Indoor Bowls Club
Palmerston Indoor Bowls Club, situated just outside the town of Fareham on the road to Lee-On-Solent, has approximately 1000 playing and social members and offers excellent bowling and social facilities.
The club was built as recently as 1997 and is one of the finest indoor bowling clubs in the country with 8 rinks an excellent restaurant, bar and viewing area.
The efficient temperature control system ensures warmth in the winter and air conditioning in the summer.
Extensive free parking facilities and easy access.
Palmerston is affiliated to the National, Regional and County Associations (EIBA, EWIBA, HCIBA, HCWIBA, L&SCIBA) and has held both national and international bowling events.
PIBC is a private club run entirely by the voluntary support of members.
There are excellent opportunities for bowlers of all abilities to participate in this friendly sport in a variety of formats.
Beginners usually start with the regular organised drives where teams are drawn out of the hat, so that you will quickly meet many new friends. A particularly popular drive is the Friday "Club Night" where Roy and Janet add a special twist to the game.
Many members participate in weekly League teams run throughout the season. There are regular friendly matches with other clubs where bowlers of all abilities are encouraged to take part. The more competitive bowlers enter club and national competitions in singles and teams, and the club captains select sides to play competitive matches in local leagues, regional and national team competitions.
Members can also just get together and hire a rink. There's a format to suit you whatever your preference.
The main winter season runs from September through to April. Many bowlers move to their outdoor clubs in the Summer, but we have an enthusiastic core who continue to enjoy their game indoors.
Social events include Race Nights, Themed Dinners, Cabaret Suppers, Quiz Nights, Christmas and New Year celebrations. Local charities are supported with special events. The Function Room is available for hire by members for family celebrations, weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, retirements and other special occasions.
New members are always welcome, whatever experience and age. Beginner instruction is provided and we will endeavour to ensure you enjoy your experience with us. Open sessions for non-bowlers are held one Sunday every month for anyone interested to try their hand at getting close to the jack. Usually the second Sunday (October to March) - phone for current details. Be warned, it can prove addictive!
